Christingles, Steam Trains and Christmas Magic in Reception!

Miss Mew • December 19, 2025

A festive week of celebrations, trips and confident performances in Reception’s first Christmas at school.

TL;DR:

  • Made Christingles with care and welcomed Nursery to join the fun.
  • Performed confidently at the Christingle service for families.
  • Enjoyed a secret trip to The Steam Railway.
  • Celebrated with an attendance treat and toys from home.
  • A magical first Christmas at big school!

A Magical Week in Reception

What a wonderfully busy week we’ve had in Reception. It’s hard to believe this is our very first Christmas at big school, because the children have taken every moment in their stride and made it truly magical.

We started the week on Monday with our Christingle making. It was such a lovely morning, and we were lucky enough to have some of the Nursery children join us too. The children worked so carefully and were so proud of their creations.

On Tuesday, we welcomed families into school for our Christingle service. The children were absolutely amazing — they sang beautifully and showed such confidence. It was one of those moments that makes you stop and realise just how far they have come since September.

Thursday was our Secret Trip to The Steam Railway, and what a day it was. Every single child from St Blasius made us so proud. Their excitement, their behaviour, and the way they looked out for one another was just wonderful to see.

We rounded off the week on Friday with a special attendance treat. The children brought in toys from home, and the classroom was full of imagination, sharing, and lots of happy chatter.

Reception, you have worked so hard this term and brought so much joy to our school. Enjoy the break — you truly deserve it.
