Year 5: A Fantastic Start to the Year!

What a fantastic start to the year it has been for Year 5! The children have worked incredibly hard over the past few weeks as we have introduced lots of exciting new topics and learning experiences. It has been wonderful to see them settle into their new routines, challenge themselves and show such enthusiasm for their learning.

Year 5 have really embraced themselves in their learning, approaching new challenges with curiosity, determination and a fantastic attitude. They have been showing one of our new school values, courage, in so many different ways. Whether it has been having a go at something they have found tricky, sharing their ideas with the class, asking questions or simply being brave enough to try something new, we have been incredibly proud of them.

Our New School Job Roles

We have also been very excited to welcome our new Year 5 school job role representatives! The children had to complete an application to put themselves forward for these important roles, showing that they were ready to take on additional responsibilities and make a positive contribution to our school community.

A huge well done to everyone who applied. It takes courage to put yourself forward for a role, and we were so impressed by the effort and thought that went into the applications.

We are delighted to announce our new Year 5 representatives:

  • Yellow and Green Vice Captains: Erin and Mila
  • School Council: Dotty and Zoe
  • Worship Leaders: Elsie and Mya
  • Sports Crew: Lenny, Kai and Nancie
  • Travel Ambassadors: Ava and Summer
  • Eco Warriors: Henry and Dan
  • Junior Librarians: Lumi and Caitlyn

We are sure that all of our new representatives will do a fantastic job and we look forward to seeing the positive difference they make throughout the year. These roles are a brilliant opportunity for the children to develop their confidence, leadership skills and sense of responsibility while helping to make our school an even better place.

Forest School Adventures

One of the highlights of our week has definitely been our new Forest School sessions on Wednesday afternoons. The children have absolutely loved having the opportunity to get outside, explore and discover new things.

Each session has brought something different, and it has been fantastic to watch the children use their imagination, teamwork and problem-solving skills in a completely different environment. They have been investigating, creating, experimenting and learning from the world around them.

The creativity we have seen has been particularly impressive! Some of the children's creations have been truly amazing, and it has been wonderful to see how proud they are of what they have made. Forest School has also provided lots of opportunities for the children to work together, support one another and, of course, demonstrate plenty of courage when trying something new.

It has been lovely to see children who might usually be a little quieter in the classroom really shine during these sessions. There have been lots of smiles, laughter and moments of discovery, and we are excited to see where their imaginations take them next!

Looking Ahead

As we look towards the rest of the year, we are incredibly excited about everything that Year 5 will achieve. There are so many more topics to explore, challenges to tackle and opportunities to grow.

The children have already shown us that they are willing to work hard, try new things and step outside of their comfort zones. Their enthusiasm and positive attitudes have made it a pleasure to see them developing as learners and as individuals.

We are so proud of the way Year 5 have begun the year and, most importantly, of the way they have embraced our school value of courage. Keep being brave, keep being curious and keep believing in yourselves, Year 5!

We can't wait to see what else you can achieve in the coming term!
