Year 2 have had a very busy and exciting term, exploring a wide range of learning across the curriculum. In English, the children have been writing fables based on The Boy Who Cried Wolf, learning about honesty and trust while creating their own stories with clear morals. They showed great imagination and growing confidence in structuring their writing.

In Maths, the children have been developing their understanding of division and number. They explored grouping and sharing equally, used skip counting to solve problems, and linked division to real-life situations. They also worked on addition and subtraction with two-digit numbers, including crossing ten and using efficient strategies, and are becoming more confident in explaining their thinking.

In Science, the focus has been on growing plants. The children planted seeds and bulbs, designed seed packets, and observed how plants change over time. They learned about seed dispersal and carried out investigations, including predicting and counting seeds in fruits, while using scientific vocabulary such as root, stem, and flower.

In RE, the children explored why Jesus is described as “good news” to Christians, discussing forgiveness, peace, and kindness, and reflecting on how these ideas apply in their own lives.

In Computing, the children developed their photography skills by taking and improving photos, exploring lighting, and using simple editing tools.

In History, we explored transport through time, including how it has changed on the Isle of Wight. A highlight was our visit to the Bus and Coach Museum, where the children compared vintage and modern vehicles.

The children have also enjoyed Art inspired by Van Gogh, Music exploring rhythm and sound, PE focusing on athletics, and PSHE learning about kindness, feelings, and managing emotions. It has been a fantastic term, and the children continue to show they are ready, respectful, and safe.
